Coconut oil is extracted by pressing coconut. Coconut oil contains mainly medium-chain fatty acids such as lauric, caprylic, capric, myristic, and others. It is a very stable and versatile oil, which is why it has gained so much popularity.
We sell two types of coconut oil: refined and unrefined.
Refined coconut oil is a purified oil that lacks the characteristic coconut flavor and aroma. For this reason, it's very versatile, suitable for frying dry dishes as well as for desserts.
Unrefined oil has an intense coconut flavor and a slightly sweet aftertaste. Extracting this oil does not require high temperatures; it is cold-pressed. This oil is perfect for cosmetic use. When refined, it loses tocopherols, sterols, and polyphenols during the purification process, but it has a higher smoke point, allowing it to be heated to higher temperatures. For this reason, it is suitable as a margarine substitute in cakes and roasts, for example. Both oils can be used as a spread instead of butter and added to fruit smoothies.
